ITANAGAR, Aug 25: In a shocking incident three dreaded criminals escaped from district jail, Jully near here early this morning.
The escapees Mazibur Rahman, Budh Ram Nayak and Farook Islam are serving jail term since last several years. While Rahman is the alleged murderer of two sisters at Akashdeep market in the year 2008, Nayak is also charged with murder case under section 302/34 IPC of Banderdewa police station.
Md Farook Islam is facing theft charges and a case was registered against him at Itanagar Police Station under section 379/ IPC.
The trio fled the jail breaking the bathroom ceiling which was fitted with CGI sheet by taking advantage of heavy rain in the wee hours of Saturday, the officials of Jully district jail informed.
They used blanket, mosquito net, crepe bandage and one 3X2 timber log as tools to escape from the jail.
The incident came to light during the routing checking conducted by the authorities at 6 am. According to night guard, Nayak was seen drinking water near in his cell at around 12.30 am. It is worth mentioning here that all the three inmates were lodged in cell number 3 of the jail.
The incident has sent a shockwave among police and jail authorities.
An FIR has been lodged in this regard at Itanagar police station and a departmental enquiry launched by the jail authorities.
Capital police officials along with ADM Talo Potom visited district jail today and has started a magisterial investigation into the jail breaking case.
Admitting security lapse in the jail, the jail authorities, however, stated that action will be taken against erring officials as per the findings of the departmental enquiry report.
The incident took place just a day after alleged twin murderer Mazibur Rahman was produced before the district and session court as part of the trial.
The Jully jail is well protected by a compound wall of 18 ft high. There are altogether 70 prisoners including both male and female inmates in the jail. More than 100 personnel, including jawans and officers, are presently engaged to guard the jail.
It was also informed that all the three criminals, who escaped from the jail, are from neighbouring Assam. While Mazibur Rahman hails from Gohaidoloni village under North Lakhimpur district Md Farook Islam is a resident of Mornoi Graging village of the same district. Budh Ram Nayak is a native of Dariya Dhipa, Harmuty under Laluk police station, North Lakhimpur district.
Meanwhile Assam police has been alerted about the incident as all the criminals belong to Assam.
Adopt better policies for improved service: Sonam

ITANAGAR, Aug 25: INTUC, North East Convenor Jalley Sonam today called upon the members of the All Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation (AAPPTF) to formulate effective policies for better transportation system in the state.
Addressing the general body meeting of Federation at Naharlagun today, Sonam said, Federation members should make every effort to improve the transportation system and imbibe a sense of discipline among its members to deliver better service.
While referring to experiences gained during his recent visit to Japan, Sonam further
said “we can not emulate the better policies/ideas adopted by Japan in a day, but
we can adopt certain policies and guidelines to deliver better service to the public.”
He particularly cited the public transportation system, the traffic rules and other
traffic related policies adopted by Japan. While briefing about the importance of

Stressing on awareness campaign against the prevailing fine system during accident, he called upon the Federation to initiate movement against the prevailing fine system.
AAPPTF Secretary General Dobing Sonam highlighted the activities of AAPPTF and informed that the federation conducted various traffic related awareness programme in different parts of the state in recent past.
He further, advising the members said “we being a public service provider, should maintain discipline particularly while dealing with passengers.
He appreciated Jalley Sonam for his cooperation and encouragement and suggestions to APPTF members.
AAPPTF President Takar Goi called upon the AAPPTF members to work selflessly for upliftment of the Federation. He also briefed about the grievances being faced by drivers and owners of commercial vehicle of the state.
Working President Tadar Raja, Vice President (Pro) Kamku Pardung and Vice President (Adm) Kipa Nib also spoke on the inaugural session and advised the AAPPTF district units to work dedicatedly.
Later, in the discussion session, district executive members of all districts of the state who attended the meeting highlighted their grievances.
Meanwhile, the house unanimously adopted a resolution stating that the central executive members for the next AAPPTF executive bodies would be held on selection basis instead of election and also fixed the venue for next general conference of AAPPTF at Aalo in November next.
The house further expressing their displeasure over the hire of vehicles from other state by corporate sectors/ construction agencies working in the state by depriving the local people unanimously decided to check and restrict hire of vehicles from other state and accordingly AAPPTF central executive body has entrusted district AAPPTF units to ensure hiring of vehicles from AAPPTF members only.
The house also resolved that local Taxi should be used by tourist for sightseeing.
Meanwhile, taking serious note over the dilapidated Balipara to Tawang Bomdila road, AAPPTF decided to call Tawang and West Kameng bandh on September 2.
It said, a peace rally was organized recently and a memorandum was also submitted demanding the BRO officials to complete the road from Jung, Rama camp to Tawang within 20 days. BRO officials assured early completion and systematic earth cutting, but they fail to fulfill their assurance.
It is worth mentioning here that public transport providers, public and tourists are facing problems due to unsystematic road cutting from Bhalukpong to Tawang.
NGOs come together for a common platform
ITANAGAR, Aug 25: The NGO’s coordination meeting held at Naharlagun today focused on creating a common platform for all the registered voluntary organizations in the state as well as establishing a strong network among different NGOs to share knowledge, experiences to address the common issues and challenges while working for the upliftment of the poor in the state.
During the first session of the meeting, Nangbia Amar Dui, Chairman NNCS, Sagalee highlighted in brief the idea, importance and the need for formation of Arunachal Pradesh NGO Network for greater interest of community members in living remote rural areas.
Tamchi Niania, Chairman, RDHS, Sungram stressed the need for a common platform, where all the NGO’s working in different fields can come together and work for the common purpose.
R K Paul Chawang, Secretary, AMYAA, Roing spoke on the primary need of establishing a mutual trust of confidence among the Government, NGOs and Donors. Joram Mepung, Secretary, Mecha Welfare Society (MWS), Yachuli briefed on Indian People’s Alliance for combating HIV/AIDS (IPACHA). She stressed on the importance of becoming members of National NGO like IPACHA even while working at grassroots level. She said this would enrich and improve the working pattern, capacitate and strengthen the state level NGOs who are in need of direction and focus.
Members from various NGOs attending meeting also shared their opinions, views and working experiences and emphasized on the need of coordination among various NGOs, especially to overcome major challenges that hinder the NGOs in its proper functioning.
Respecting the common views of the members, the meeting constituted a mobilizing committee with members from various NGOs, including AMYAA, NDF, NNCS, AFT and MWS.
The members unanimously agreed upon to work together under the banner Arunachal Pradesh Ngo Network (Apngon). The members further resolved to commit themselves as NGO representatives in addressing the common issues of the poor, working in various fields and areas within the state.
The meeting was initiated by the NN Charitable Society (NNCS), Rural Development and Heritage Society (RDHS), Alombro Mayu Yaku Chi Amey Aroga (AMYAA), and Mecha Welfare Society (MWS) and attended by 25 NGOs from 6 districts.

ITANAGAR, Aug 25: Renowned footballer Baichung Bhutia, who also is president of Football Players Association of India (FPAI) has assured to help Arunachal Pradesh Football Players Association (APFPA) in getting affiliation with FPAI.

Road link restored

SEPPA, Aug 25: The heavy road blockade on Seppa (East Kameng) to Tezpur road was cleared successfully today. The landslide and flash flood triggered by heavy rain had snapped road link since Thursday.
The restoration brings a huge sigh of relief to passengers as well as drivers who were stranded at Palizi and Ramda following the heavy road blockade at Bana in East Kameng and Palizi and Ramda in West Kameng.
East Kameng deputy commissioner Tope Bam informed this daily that he directed the highway division to clear the road blockade soon after he received the report of road blockade.
Sources informed that as many as fifty vehicles both private and government stranded at block points and commercial vehicles plying from Seppa had to cancel their service due to road blockade.
